JAMIE MITCHELL Captain
Jamie has more than fifteen years off shore, ocean sailing experience. He holds a degree in the science field of geomorphology, specialising in coastal systems. He spent the first year of his life on the sea with his sailor parents; some land time followed in Sydney, Australia, before he set off again.
Ten years in ten seconds
In 2008 Jamie arrived back in Sydney to complete a ten year circumnavigation of the world in his 25ft sailing boat, "Possibilities". In this journey he sailed westerly under the three great capes of Australia, South Africa and Cabo de Hornos of South America, taking in many other 'side' passages, such as crossing the Atlantic an extra two times.
This voyage and adventure made "Possibilities" the smallest boat and Jamie the youngest person to circumnavigate the globe, sailing east to west around the three great southern capes. This odyssey was possible with the help of many voyaging students and crew.

What next
After sailing to the magnificent Port Davey in the south of Tasmania, shortly after arriving back in Sydney - a sailors way of deciding what to do next - Jamie joined up with Lisa and headed to the United States, where "The Wild Goose" was found.
After ten years sailing in a small boat, a 'bigger boat' project seemed a worthy challenge and adventure to embark upon.
LISA HERRING Adventure Partner
Lisa first sailed with Jamie aboard "Possibilities" down the coast of Brazil. After two years, she re-united with Jamie in Sydney and after some bike riding ventures and a lilo trip down the bulging-after-rain Colo River in the grand Wollemi National Park north of Sydney, she was ready to take a sailing trip to Tasmania with Jamie aboard the little blue boat.
Joining the search for "The Wild Goose"
'What next' discussions during the Tasmania trip turned in to flights to New York, buses down to the Chesapeake Bay and onwards to Florida before embarking on the restoration project of "The Wild Goose".
The art of sailing and art in sailing
Lisa holds two degrees, one in Commerce and one in Visual Communications. Lisa grew up in Western Australia, where she competed in the equestrian sport of eventing, owning and riding horses for over ten years.
With strong interests in the visual arts and in sustainable communities and lifestyles, she is attracted to the natural environments encountered through sailing and living on board. She practices yoga and tai chi and believes a connection to the physical and natural environment is key to healthy living.
